Dysphagia or difficulty in swallowing is usually associated with neurological conditions like stroke and following head and neck surgeries .These patients may require long term use of nasogastric tube or PEG tube They may also have frequent choking episodes due to aspiration of food (even saliva )into the lungs. The instrumental procedures that aids in the assessment of dysphagia are the videoflouroscopic swallowing study and flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing. Compensatory strategies such as tilting the head forward, changing the texture of the food, small food bites, and altering the swallowing techniques can avoid or significantly reduce penetration of material into the larynx. An individualized rehabilitation program is planned based on the evaluation results.
Voice is inevitable for our day to day activities .At times we may have to face with a change in quality of voice or voice strain. Our centre deals with various voice related problems like muscle tension dysphonia, Puberphonia-males having high pitched female voice and other neurological problems with associated voice change.
